Oh come on Peter, you can't give up the family that easily....

I'd go our event at $8.00 per gallon, heck the truck (daily driver) only gets me 10.7-11.9 mpg..... I know your Pcar gets at least double that.... :)

Man I was really considering the purchase of a new Hybrid Full-Sized truck this year but after reading all of the reviews it appears that the technology used on these trucks are not what everyone thinks they are.
They don't run on batteries part of the time, but only when they are at stops... :( This saves an average of 1MPG on a recent test conducted by someone who has compared his 100K mile truck of the same model...

Looks like I'll have to down grade the engine size to save.... and wait for the real technology to arrive... maybe next year...???

The safety issue is a human one and not an engineering one. The truth is that California is really popular and if housing stabilizes to normal prices then more people will move back to the state. The crowds will only get worst and there aren't going to be any more freeways that are going to be build. Well, none that would alleviate the problem anyway. Thus, leaving public transport as the only feasible option, until teleportation becomes a reality.

Sure there arent any new freeways being made but the existing ones are constantly being improved.. example the 22, its got like 3 more lanes and no longer comes to a stand still. Also the 405 freeway near LAX was improved upon last year and the morning commute isnt so bad anymore so long as there arent any accidents on it.
