I've been considering purchasing a portable version. Don't need city approval for those...

Yep,

That is basically what you get. This one here is less than $1,800. Runs on house hold current...

According the manufactorer, It utilizes a 110/220 1phase motor. However, I'm not sure if it needs to be hard wired or is just a simple plug in. In any case, it shouldn't be to difficult to have done...

humm. is there enough overhead height in the average garage to install a lift AND be able to open the garage door with a car on the lift? :( :(
There are a lot of repair garage going out of business. I wonder if those lifts are for sale? I think I'll be asking some of these folks if their lifts are for sale. I'll report back what I find.

Biggest deal killer is the over-head space.....

Other than that, it's a pretty neat thing to have....

Todd, you can have James hard-line yours, he did mine for a good price... Sorry man, not a plug-in.... :)
