I don't care what category you put the GT-R in it is one butt ugly car... I'm sure that if it weren't for the performance factor no one would be interested in it...

And to rate it better than a Bentley GT or Maseratti is just ridiculous...

JM02 cents...

I will take the M3, GT-R, and GTS if I have only $200k to spend.

so are you saying S2000 is luxury? :D

If I had $200 K to spend I sure as hell wouldn't spend it on a GTR. Speed is definately not the only factor to consider when I look at this car...The just doesn't have an appealing qualities other than the drive train...

I would definately take a ZO6, M6 coupe, hell even a Viper. Just not a fan of this particular car right now...Maybe if I get an opportunity to see what it could be once the aftermarket goodies start to role off the shelf then perhaps I would reconsider. Unfortunately, not sure if that is going to change my perspective on the car...

if I have $200k
I would most definitely buy a Viper, any porsche, aston martin
I wouldn't spend it on GTR
sorry but that's too much and I would probably get more tickets in an uglier car

""Luxury vehicle is a marketing term for a vehicle that provides luxury — that which is beyond strict necessity — in exchange for increased cost to the buyer.

The term suggests a vehicle with greater equipment, performance, construction precision, comfort, design ingenuity, technological innovation, brand image, caché, prestige — or other discretionary feature or combination of features — beyond strict necessity.

The term may be applied to any body style — from minivan to convertible, crossover or sport utility vehicle — and to any size vehicle, from small to large.[1]""

Personally I am glad that this car came out. Maybe, just maybe, this will get Porsche to get off its fat and lazy ass to engineer something that is a change from what they have been doing for the past 30 years. Maybe we might see a 400 HP Cayman, although I would be glad just to see a Cayman with a 3.8 and a LSD.

Hey Aren,

I agree with you regarding the production of the car. Competition is a great thing. Maybe we will see some better offerings not only from Porsche but other manufacturers as well.

I'm sure Ford and GM are taking notes...I'd like to see what Ford does with the Saleen and see how GM continues to improve the ZO6. There's also the V-Series CTS and XLR by Cadi that I would like to see with a little more juice...Although the CTS at 550hp is not too bad...

I commend the technoligical efforts that went into the production of the GT-R, especially it's performance. Nothing can be taken away from that. But when I look at the car it reminds me of a Tundra...

It's just my opinion that their primary focus was on performance and not much else...I believe they could have produced a more asthetically appealing product...and believe me I know they are capable...I love their Infinity line as well as a few of their Nissan offerings. I've been a Z fan all of my life from the very first 240Z to the current 300Z. So I know they have it in them...

Hey Aren,

I guess I just can't get my arms around Porsche being the main competitor of Nissan. That would be the equivalent of Cadillac suggesting that it's main competitor is Rolls Royce.

With regard to Luxury, in this day and age the playing field has broadened and the term is very subjective. And of course marketing does play a huge role in our perception of the luxury ID.

Years ago, when you referred to a luxury vehicle you would immediately think Cadillac, Lincoln Continental, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, BMW and of course the quintessense of luxury, Rolls Royce and Bentley. Basically, luxury was defined around ride and creature comforts that most cars did not offer. And in most cases luxury cars were big huge 4 door behemoths.

Cars like Porsche, Ferrari, Maseratti and Lamborghini were simply referred too as sports cars...exotic sports cars at their best.

As with time, all things change.

And the beat goes on...
