Its very important to replace this part if your AOS is defective or broken. Reason being is that the design of the crankcase on the 996 and 986 engine often causes the oil to bubble or foam up and head up through the AOS and this foamed oil can. A bad AOS will not be able to stop the foamed oil from being sucked into your intake system and burned through the exhaust and potentially damage your Cats and O2 sensors.

A properly working AOS will eliminate the risk of foamed oil from getting into the intake while still being able to pull the gases created by the heated oil, into the intake and burned away which will prolong the life of your oil.

In the most worse cases of bad AOS the amount of smoke out of the exhuast will be non-stop and could degrade your cats, o2 sensors and ruin your feul economy. Also the bellows/accordian tube that comes with the AOS will rip and cause a vaccum leak which in turn also ruins your feul economy and will leak oil into your engine & floors.

For 996 Carreras we charge $375 for removal and installation.
For 986 Boxsters we charge $150 for removal and installation.
