Owner spent quite a bite of money for these mods. Just too much for Porsche. That's my 2 cents!
I agree Peter he is asking way to much for that Porsche. Peter this comment is not directed towards you.
However, I don't think he spent too much if he has the money, and he planned on keeping it. Especially if he made it exactly the way he wanted it. The flip side is if he plans on selling it others may not see the value in the mods he made. Therefore, he should never expect to recoupe the money back that he spent.
That's like my car... I hit a point where I had to make a conscience decision if I wanted to fix my car the way I wanted it, or did I want to use it with the thought of making it an investment at the same time. On a balance sheet these cars are all automatically a liability not an assett, but I guess you have to weigh the idea of making the car exactly the way you want it, if you purchased it, or if you leased the car and just want to keep it for a few years and not go too extreme since you have to turn it back in. I guess it comes down to how much money you want to dump into a liability.
I took the plunge of no return and made my car exactly the way I want it. They only made 16 "Factory Turbo Looks (M491)" Cabs in 87 and it was exactly what I wanted. I don't think you ever can put too much into these cars if you do it for the right reason. Older cars and niche cars like this that have a lot of money into them require potential buyers that have cash rather than primarily relying on financing. Many lenders will not loan a lot of money towards these cars. Therefore, you have to have the difference in cash. That makes it tough for the seller to get his or her asking price.
Everyone has their own vision. It may or may not enhance the quality of life, and it definately does not put food on the table. So you have to make a choice that fits you.
The car looks great. The whale tale is a little over the top "for me", but it does look like he put a lot into this car and it show.
I haven't posted much lately because of travel, but I was in a typing mood this morning Pete...
That's just my my 5 cents.
