Hey guys,
I thought I would make an interesting post here......
Well it all started out about a month ago when a person who lives on an other forum posted some rear smoked tail-lights for sale. I thought it was a pretty decent deal not thinking they were the early style in amber for $200 the set plus shipping. When they arrived I quickly noticed that they were off an early car 99-00 and therefore would be a down-grade from my white/red lights on my car. I also didn't know they were tinted-smoked. So I went ahead and re-posted them on that same forum for the same price of $200 plus shipping.
I got a buyer who was happy to pay for them ("I'll take them if still available"), about a week later I get an E-mail from him telling me that they were not packed properly and that there we some imprints in the "tint" because of it.
"I received the smoked tail lights today. The passenger side one was not wrapped in bubble wrap. The packing styrofoam created imprint marks/spots in the smoked area. The happened in multiple places. I tried cleaning it with auto glass cleaner to no effect. Rather than going any further I want to return these for a full refund. Please let me know what the ship to return address is."
I let the buyer know that they were packed in the same manner in which they were shipped to me. I also offered to file a claim though UPS if he felt they were not handled properly. This buyer then indicated the following:
"I do not understand your logic of not providing a full refund including shipping. The issue has to do with the way the lights were packaged and noting to do with the shipper. I was sent something that was incorrectly packaged and damaged due to that. You expect me to not be refunded for shipping to me plus pay to ship it back to you because of a mistake on your end? A top notch customer service company would setup a return call tag (at their expense) and provide a full refund."
Well first off, they were package the same way they were shipped to me, matter of fact they spent no more than 5-minutes of California air time and only one made it outside the box. Second this is not a business transaction, this is a personal F/S section but of course he calls me up on the business line to convey the same. During the phone conversation I tell him that to send them back and I would check out the damage and offer a refund NO SHIPPING since he didn't want to file a claim. HE CONFIRMS THE RETURN SHIPPING ADDRESS, but about a week later he E-mails the following:
"ccording to USPS tracking you received the tail lights on 6/9. Please provide a Paypal refund in full ASAP."
Of course he doesn't ship them back to the address confirmed but an old address.... WTF... I ask him why he bothered to call and confirm when he shipped to an old address... He also claims I told him to use the address on the box.... "right"
Well figuring that the lights are shipped back and all I need to do is to pick them up I again re-post them thinking that this guy was just but-hurt and didn't want them hence the sorry excuse. But then I get this
"Oh I see, you feel comfortable enough to post them for sale again without providing my refund???"
I go to pick them up and take a look, nothing there, everything is just fine.... I E-mail him back letting him know I pulled my ad, which I did....
Now I know that some of you may have done different but to be honest with you I think this guy made up a excuse to send them back rather than to own up to purchasing something that he really didn't want..... Want know what I did????
