Hey Larry, a good solution is to goto Download.com and download the free version of AVG and run that... when its done with the scan, goto My Computer, right-click on the C drive icon and click "Properties" then click the "Tools" tab then click the "Check Now" button under the Error-Checking section. It'll act like its going to check right then but then a prompt will appear saying that it can only run error-checking during start up, just click YES on the prompts and restart your PC and it should correct any Errors on your harddrive that could and would make your PC run at embarrassing Boxster speeds

Hey Big Larry!

Well, this is one of those rare moments where I agree with Aren. His solutions are similar to what I use and work quite well. I use both Spybot and Adware. I also use CCleaner and Regcure.

Most Virus utilities are only as good as their definitions. I've used both McAfee and Norton and have no opinion on which one is better. I'm currently using McAfee which was a free offering through my ISP. I like it because my virus definitions are updated automatically...

Are you updating the virus definitions on a regular basis? Need to make sure you do. Most people will buy a anit-virus program install it and then think it will protect them from all viral attacks.

Unfortunately, hackers are busy bodies and there are new viruses created daily...so the anti-virus software developers are challenged with keeping up with new solutions...

Not really sure about Steve's comment regarding not running spyware programs...None of my PC's run slow because of running them.

Just my 2 cents...
