Little Red can give you his experience since he a boxster with a hard top. I have my hardtop on my 996 and I love it. It gives the car a different look, definitely is warmer and less road noise. But...you will get tweaks and creaks as the body flexes. Also you need to make sure you have room to store the hardtop and have someone available to help you take it on and off. I have my hardtop on now and I will probably take it off around March or April.

If you are heading to tonight's little meet I should be there and you can check it out.

what color is your boxster and where are you located? I have a black hardtop for sale in socal. AI hit the money. Plus I personally think the boxster looks fantastic with the hardtop. Very sleek. You will get some creaking at high speeds, but def tolerable.

I actually like the look of the hard-top.....

Irving's car looks good with the hard-shell on there....

I know it's just MO, but figured I'd give it out,

It's artic silver. Suprised to hear a few comments about the squeaks and rattles. :( My SL hardtop was nice and solid and gave a very soild feeling to the cabin.

yeah it tweaks and creaks because the top is in the down position. So the body flexes a little more. Now place a piece of alum and glass over this flex body and you get noise.

even though you get minor squeaking over bumps and turns of high speed, I would say the noise level inside the cabin is reduced tenfold. It feels much more roomy and rigid, trust me you should pick one up! It takes literaly 15 seconds to put the hardtop on with someone on both sides and isn't heavy. It gives the boxster a distinct look as well (much nicer than softtop IMO). Anyways that's my 2 cents!

Hardtop

Postby littlered » Tue Jan 22, 2008 6:25 pm

I been driving with the hardtop for about 7 years. There is very little noise, and you are always warm. However, it is a pain to remove and you must be very careful not to drop it. I remove with the help of the wife. The top only weighs about 60 pounds, but because of the strange shape it can be a pain.
