Just to add to this thread, at this point I may be off topic, but I have a twin turbo kit on my Boxster and have put over 15k miles on it since install with no issues.

I think if the kit is put in correctly and with out going with crazy boost you will be fine.

The peak boost is 6lbs psi.

2) how big are the turbos ( size ) ?

They are Garrett's. they are about the size of a softball. I have pictures that I can load up tomorrow that show the turbos in detail. But I included one picture of the turbos

3) how much hp gain?

I gained 65 peak hp at the wheels, but the power curve is amazing, full boost at 3k rpm 175 toruqe compared to 80 on my base line dyno.

4) is the turbo kit custom? or already made?

It is a kit from Turbowerx

damm i really cant wait to do that to my :D

Here is a pictures of the turbo, I will try to post a few other angles tomorrow.

The dyno!!

The dyno runs where all done on the same machine here in Baton Rouge. The baseline was done with no mods except a muffler and intake.

The turbos dyno is the turbowerx kit, plus maxspeed muffler, evo intake, desnorked.

I have videos of the dyno runs at

Its 65hp at the wheels, so that takes my 2.5 from 201 to 280-290ish at the crank. My guesstimate.

I am running 6lbs of boost. During the winter the 2 weeks of winter in south Louisiana I saw the boost go as high as 7psi.

The main difference in the turboed car compared to stock is the torque curve. I have power all the way through the rpms not just in the higher ones.

I had 142,000 miles on the car when i did the install and I am just over 158,000 now. I have not had any issues since then except a belt tension pulley broke. Considering the Turbo does not touch the belts at all I dont blame the turbos for it,

Its been a worth while addition.

When I did the original mods I thought about going with a 3.4 but the cost was twice as much as the turbo and about the same power.

I have looked at putting in a 3.4 and turbocharging it. the price of the swaps have fallen so much now. But the price to do them both is way out of what I want to spend on the car.

In my situation I cant see putting another 15-20k into the car when the money would make a great downpayment on a 996tt. And then I would have a high power (for a 2.5) Boxster and a 996tt I could mod out to 600 hp safely.

If I where to do it all right now the 3.4 is a viable alternative to the turbos or the superchargers due to the drop in cost of doing the swap.
