Intake Plenum for your Porsche GROUP BUY

Postby FastForwardWheels » Tue Mar 04, 2008 6:03 pm

How many of you would be interested in a Plenum for your PORSCHE?

996 Intake Plenum for 3.4 Liter 99-01 & 3.6 Liter 02-04
HP Gains: 25
Torque Gains: 22

I'm looking into putting together a group-buy for these items. Depending on the number of interest will allow for us to get deeper discounts. Retail price is around $995 but I'm hoping to get better pricing if we can do 5-10 at one swing. Invites from other forum members is totally cool with this... Remember the more the better.

I'll post again once I know the pricing....

Any word on if these are available for the 2.5 Boxster engine?

Growing up all the car magazines spoke of how amazing Porsches are. My question is was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

Doesn't look like RSS/IPD is making plenum for Boxster. Only for Cayenne, Cayman, 996, 997.

Yeah thats what I thought. Perhaps with the smaller engine the gains are just not there.

I talked with the manufacture "Mike" who was nice enough to call me back around 6:30 PM.

He indicated to me that he was now using a distributor and not selling directly. Pcars will be getting a call back today I was told. At that time we'll get pricing.....

Not sure what pricing would be D.T. but I'm sure if 20+ units got it down to $795, I don't think 5-10 would justify less.

I think I'm going to say more once I know Pcar's pricing..

Hi there Kato.....

Well the word I'm getting is that the distributor is asking all retailers to keep the pricing uniform. "No more group buys"

I had someone from the 6'er forum tell me that he's purchasing one directly from them at a discount but was asked to keep it on the DL....

 Great, now one must compete with their own supplier??? Not sure if that's a fair practice. I've confirmed this with a couple of other retailers who refuse to sell this item since they too have confirmed customers who have claimed to have gotten deep discounts (better pricing than vendors could offer)....

:?

The deal went South with the supplier who wanted to become more of a reatailer rather than the distributor he claimed to be.

The distributor claimed to want to level the market by asking all retailers to offer out this item at the same price BUT would offer out discounts "deep ones" directly to the consumer... Guess what? He can offer out lower prices then the people he's asking to distribute his products.

A few have let me know that they were offered a certain price by the so-called distributor.... I don't think it's fair to ask the retailer to keep their prices up only to be beat by their own distributor... There are many P-shops who now refuse to carry this product. Why offer free advertisement when you can't compete? Right...

Even if it's 800 bucks go for it, the improvement is amazing. The little dead spot around 3000 rpm in a 3,6 is gone.
