Is the Price of Gas Changing the Way You Drive?

Postby 993C4S » Fri May 30, 2008 9:51 am

Hey Guys,

I'm taking a poll on the affect the price of gas is having on our Porsche driving habits. Here's a link to the poll: Rich or Poor. Porsche or Pinto. What’s the Price of Gas Doing to Your Driving Habits? I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

John

Aren,

Thanks for looking. Surprisingly, I can get about 30mpg in my 911T (assuming I don't get on it.)

I can do high 20's in my 993 C4S if I stay below 4000 RPMs, but what's the fun in that. Hell that car just starts to talk to you around 5k (when the varioram kicks in.)

since the gas price went up...
I thought about driving slower and keep the rpm low and shift under 3k rpm...

but when i jump in the car....
i stomped on it like usual,
i guess it doesnt change my way...

I haven't changed the way I drive my toys (boat excluded), but I have changed some of my daily driving habits. I notice I'm not taking the SUV as much and I seem to be going a little slower on the highway and using cruise control (again, not in the Porsche(s).)

Well hasn't really changed my driving habits but it has changed the vehicles I own....

Within the last 3 months:

Sold the RV 6 MPG highway....

Selling the 06 Ram pretty soon ave. 10.7 MPG

Bought 06 Chevy Van smallest engine in it's class 385 miles per fill-up.

Porsche "who cares what it burns, drive it or just sell it". . .

I stopped driving the minivan (got 5 kids) and started driving the
Mercury Mystic (which was the oldest son's car) and Acura TL (wife's
car) more. I did get 20 mpg in my 928 driving back from Bonneville,
but I stayed off the boost most of the way. I only get 4-5 mph when
I'm at full boost... :)
