Yes, but for the COST of a Corvette, I think not! I love Porsches more than anything, but you can't beat the raw power of the Corvette for the price, especially from Porsche. Its still a much nicer car, as are boxsters than Corvettes :P .

Even the TT, such a great car, classy looking while one of the fastest cars on the road, yet for the price, I think Corvette will always be on top when it comes to raw horsepower. But not everyone cares about speed. Aren't Boxsters and Corvettes closer in price than Turbos?

aren040 wrote:I will actually put my two cents in on this. You guys that keep bagging on the Corvette need to realize what an amazing car it really is. The interior may not be on par with Porsche standards but also understand that you get an amazing sports car. The Z06 was bench marked against the 911 Turbo and it held its own very well for half the cost.

In case anyone wants to talk about straight line, I suggest you actually look at the Vette. This is not a Pony car like the new Cobras or Dodges offerings. This car can handle very well. Look at the Nurburgring times listed below:

7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h - Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg

7:42* - 160.519 km/h – Ford GT, 550 PS/ 1521 kg

7:40 - 161.217 km/h - Porsche 997 Turbo, 480 PS/ ??? kg

7.39* - 161.575 km/h - Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1395 kg

7:36 - 162.631 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT, 612 PS/ 1475 kg
7:28 - 166.652 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT, 612 PS/ 1475 kg

As you can see, it is going up against cars that cost much more and is holding its own very well. Now take into consideration that this car is still using some very old automobile technology and it is pretty amazing that it can hang with the big boys.

Bang for the buck, you just cant beat the Vette. Especially now with the rumors of a mid-engine platform being developed for it.

Aren,

I believe you must have read the wrong post. Most of the replies to this post are in agreeance with what you have so elloquently stated. I don't believe anyone reading this post disagrees with the fact that the Corvette Z06, based on price and performance, is a phoenominal automobile. The numbers speak for themselves...
