The police in Romania have never had it so good.

Postby FastForwardWheels » Sun Apr 29, 2007 10:53 pm

BUCHAREST, Romania — What is it with high-performance cop cars lately? Last week, we brought you news of Ferrari's tongue-in-cheek police edition of the 612 Scaglietti. Now comes word from Romania of a 911 pursuit vehicle, compliments of Bogdan Urdea and Top Art Automotive Design.

Top Art has created a carbon-fiber aero body kit for the 911 that includes a new front spoiler, rear spoiler with integral diffuser, side skirts, wheel arches and air extractors. A roof-mounted tunnel provides additional air flow to the turbochargers in the rear engine bay.

Inside, the car is trimmed in black leather and carbon fiber and sports a multimedia surround-sound system with rear camera, DVD player and central video screen.

What this means to you: The police in Romania have never had it so good.

I know, I saw you driving off in the wrong direction on Sunday, I was like "does he know where East is?".... But then figured you would be headed to work....

Can someone explain to me if and when these cars would ever be used for any type if policing? I dont mean riding in a parade or bringing it out to the carnival type of gig, but actual police work.

Oh and I am not too fond of those rims either.

Irocs were brought out in the early 90's in Ontario when a few of the street racers smoked "old-smokey"...... I guess they just want a chance to even the odds...

aren040 wrote:Well, it depends on the country in question, but I would think that there would be a more economical way to chase them down. The reason the IROCs were used is because they were cheap.

I mean the LAPD and the LAFD both have Lamborghini police cars that were donated to them. When was the last time they came out for real duty? If anything was to happen to those cars then it would be way to costly to fix them.

I know that France is now using the Subaru Impreza WRX for their high speed patrol vehicles and Japan used to use the old GC8 body Impreza WRX as their chase car for a while. But those are economical.

I guess my real issue here is that these cars would cost a lot to maintain and fix if something was to happen, so the in the end is it really worth it? Especially with helicopters and such.

You know the local dealer would service them for near to nothing just to stay on the good side of the law...

Yeah, but wouldn't that be great? Just to be able to chase people and speed for no reason without worrying about the Po Po....

Man that would be heaven on earth...

I would throw the lights on so people could clear out...... Then weave back and fourth to stall traffic, wait about 1 minute on an area without on/off ramps and just let her rip......
