What do you guys think about these SHOES? iForged

Postby FastForwardWheels » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:28 pm

Tell me what you think about these wheels?

The soonest I will see them will be a couple of weeks but figured I'd get your feedback on them before hand.....

Link to page: http://iforged.com/us/wheels_detail.php?WhID=23

BTW, anyone interested in the set I have on mine? They have less than 100 miles on them and I'll offer them with some tires for $1200. I don't know what kind of tires but nothing fancy. Custom polished lip + tires...

These are the same ones sold by Pcars.com for $1,481.05 (no tires). These are not the stock machine lips which come from the factory but with a custom POLISHED lip. SAVE: $281.05 PLUS FREE CUSTOM POLISHED LIP AND FREE TIRES..... 4" LIP ONTHE NARROW BODY 996

http://www.pcars.com/porsche_parts/shop ... p_147.html

This is a cash price of course, deposit of $200 will hold them for you. Will be ready for pick up within 30-days.

Eli, what rims are you selling? The black five spoke rims in your garage picture? Also, will they fit a 986 boxster or no. Thanks

I'm sure you'll have room for 10s in the rear and up to 8.5 in the front to be safe... If you're low you'll really need to watch the tire sizes... We can talk once you're ready to go.... Tire Brands can make a difference....

Thanks,

My car has been without 3-pc. wheels for about 2-years now (HRE 545 last set). I was leaning towards a 5-spoke design but gave way into something a bit different.

Hope to customize and sport on the car real soon.... :) You know I can't sport something non-custom

Custom or not, I just like that you have "quality" wheels on the machine man.

iForged, HRE, BBS, Volk, Champions, OZ, Kinesis etc...I mean something worthy of a Porsche.

All your previous rims IMO made your car look less. You have TOP OF THR LINE EVERYTHING on the car. System, seats, bodykit...paint..whatever. Everything is THE BEST. Except your wheels. I mean come on.....plus you used to work at PELICAN! You KNOW BETTER!

I remember I had my BMW 540i and I bought my first rims. $1500 with Tires. Axis Pentas. I thought I was king of the road. Until...later after I already sold the car...man I was rocking fake wheels. =(.
I always wondered why when I sold the car...the new owner bought new wheels IMMEDIATELY. He replaced my Axis with AC Schnitzer 5 spokes. Classic BMW sedan wheels. I asked like a dork...um...why? You dont like the Axis? He just told me it wasn't his style. hahaahah....I guess not the hurt my feelings.

a little off topic...ELI - when can we tighten up the bolts on my wheels?

I know what you're saying but I guess I was just sampling the products here while waiting for a set that would make me happy.....

I'm actually off to get them now, I'll have them under the knife pretty soon.... By the way we could torque those down pretty easy, when you have time, just give me a call....

Yes of course they make 3-pc wheels that fit your car, the goods with 3-pc wheels is that they are easy to custom design, you can replace bent barrels or even change the depth of the wheel by replacing parts.

The draw backs are they are center sealed so they can leak if not taken care of, they are more expensive to replair, they are more expensive to refinish and oh yeah, they are just plain expensive to begin with... :)

Eli, the front wheels will fit the boxster just fine... the front suspension "aside from the struts bound, rebound, springs and sway bar" are the same. The rears will fit also but i believe they would need spacers to look right on the back of a 986 boxster. Front of the 986 can accept up to a 9inch wide wheel, maybe larger without rubbing suspension parts... rears i dont remember how wide we can go but i know its wide.

You're going to have some trouble getting the rears to work with you here. The fronts for the 986/996/996TT are all within specs...
