Sickly Beast

Postby Jitters » Mon Feb 18, 2008 6:24 pm

Hey Gents...

Got some bad news today regarding the PCAR. According to my mechanic, I've got 2 bad pistons and some broken rings, which I was aware of.

I'm going to stop by tomorrow to take a peek.

My mechanic also stated that because of the size of my cylinders and pistons, he can only order the entire kit, which is about $4.2K.

Total cost to fix the buggy is going to be around $6.8K...

So, If this is the way this is going to play out, I'm going to be out of commision for awhile...

Really sucks...

Todd,

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like once you do get your car back in action the motor will be rock solid.

Not factoring the RUF components I heard 6K for motor work and 2.5 for G50 work is the going price.

I'm wondering if a second quote (price) would make any difference.

Good Luck...

C.L.

Hey guys...

Thanks, I appreciate your feedback and concern. I'm sure something will come up real soon so I'll be able to get this thing finished and back on the block...

Hey Clarence,

The price quoted by my mechanics is pretty reasonable. Normally, this would cost around $10K. So I'm looking at a savings of right around $3K...

This was just unexpected. I just spent around $6K on turbo and other work done to the car...

That's not what I'm sure you wanted to hear... One thing is you'll have a brand new motor when your finished... Good luck to you on that..

Hey Dre,

Yeah, Larry is a really cool cat. The price quote he gave me is about $1,200 less than Pelican Parts price. So I know he's showing me some love...The Bird want's $5,200 for just the barrels and the pistons.

Larry's price of $6.8K includes the barrels, pistons, gaskets and labor.
This is the total out the door. So, I'm definately not complaining...

Todd... That does put it into perspective in terms of the price. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there is any way around it at this point.

Here's your chance to cut back to four cars...

You are absolutely correct...If this keeps up, not only will I have to cut back on the cars, I'll probably wind up living in my lil old travel trailer...
