Todd's 930 Turbo Update? Paging Todd....... :)

Postby FastForwardWheels » Sun Oct 05, 2008 12:49 am

Hey Todd, Oh-buddy, Oh-pal.....

What's the update....... :) We all miss the beast, the weather is getting a little cold and we want to make sure that we have those flames available to us as it was a cold winter last year.

We only had Ivings fire-place to warm under during those meets last year...

Hey Eli,

Thanks for the memories...

The rebuild is coming along fine...I was doing fine right up until it was time to install the heads. As of this moment I'm waiting on parts from the machine shop. Because of the high compression that the engine puts out, the builder used what is called Ni-Resist rings.

These are bassically a high performance application where grooves are machined into the heads and cylinders and a small ring is used in place of the standard OEM head gasket. Just my luck.

So I had to send the barrels out to have the grooves machined into the tops. Once that is complete, I can resume putting her back together...I'm hoping to have the barrells back from the machine shop by the weekend...

Hey Eli,

Well once I get the machining done, it's just a matter of putting the rest of the engine together. Barring any additional discoveries it shouldn't take that long. I have everthing I need to put it back together, I hope....

But I will definately keep you posted...

Hey Big Larry,

Thanks. Had this been 20 years ago, it would have been done already...just not high on my priority list. It's amazing how as we get older our priorities change and we aquire a lot more patience...I like it.
