Beast on the Blitz...

Postby Jitters » Sat Aug 04, 2007 10:45 am

Hey Fam,

Just came back from dropping off my PCAR at the shop

Talked with my mechanic and he stated that I've probably got a bad turbo seal. I hope that is all that is wrong with the car.

JR, I'f I'm not mistaken, you mentioned that last night at Hooters.

What happened last night was after trying to keep up with Eli and James, we exited the freeway and while waiting at the light to turn, the car started smoking really bad. I mean, really, really bad...

So I made the exit, parked the car and shut her down. After a brief moment, I restarted the car and flames immediately came from the exhaust pipes. It did this several times and stopped after accelarating the car for a moment.

At idle the car smokes alot. While driving it clears up.

Has any one with a Turbo, especially an older turbo ever had this experience :?:

Well, hopefully I can have it fixed by next Saturday for the Euro Run...

Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

I do hope it's a Turbo seal rather than an internal issue....

You and me both...I would rather have to replace the turbo than have to go through the engine...

Well see. I'll keep you posted.

Hey Flavio,

Probably about 2,000 miles ago. I always make sure that the oil level is correct. The car has an oil level gauge that helps me to make sure it's always full.

Well guys, most likely my little beast won't be ready for this weekends run. Unfortunately, my mechanic was under the impression that I want to spend $3K dollars on a new one.

So what my plans are now is to have him remove the turbo and I will send it out to be rebuilt. Currenlty, I've found a company in Houston that will rebuild the unit for a very reasonable price.

If anyone know of a local establishment that I can have rebuild the turbo, please let me know.

Thanks,

Jitters

Sorry to hear that, the only person I knew who rebuilt Turbos was a guy who purchased my first house from me in Whittier. I think the shop was out of SFS or Norwalk. I can't remember the name of the company though..... :(

I know someone who has one sitting around, I just sent him an E-mail to see if he still has it and how much he wants for it.....

I'll keep you posted!
