Hi there,

The ID sounds familiar, are you a member on BimmerForums, M3forums or E46Fanatics?

Anyhow, I was lucky to have the M3 and the Porsche at the same time a few years back. I was able to rotate between the two during the week which was nice. I'm sure you'll be happy to make the transition....

Although rare the RMS issue was of course one of the main conserns drawn to all 996 models but not found in the 98-04 non-Turbo/GT3/GT2 Porsche cars. Not a big deal IMO since the repair is approx. $600, small price to pay if you are one of the un-lucky ones.

99-00 3.4L (just under 300 HP)
01 3.4L (300 HP)
02-04 3.6L (just over 300 HP)

Biggest changes are the head light & front end + glove box.

The 02- has the Turbo style headlamps with the lines, while the early models replicate the Boxster style lights and no passenger glovebox.

Good Luck in your quest, and of course welcome to our forums!
