Hello All

Postby jorj7 » Fri May 02, 2008 9:28 pm

My name is George. I've been hanging around here a few days, and
am trying to get to know you guys. I work in IT, but I use photography
to help pay for my racing. I drive a 928, hopefully you won't hold that
against me. This is the 2nd one I've owned, I really like the V8 rumble,
and high speed stability.

Here is a photo of my car before I started the conversion to an Unlimited
Open Road Racing car.

IT in Window or Linux?

I also like photography. What equipment, setup?

Thank you.

IT as in Z/OS and Solaris, but my desktop workstations are Linux and
laptop is XP :).

Canon Cameras (1Dmk2, 1D, 20D, 350D) and lots of lenses (500 f4LIS,
300 f2.8LIS, 70-200 f2.8LIS, 24-70 f2.8L, +25 others from 800 f5.6 to
8 f3.5). I shot motorsports and other events, but also love to shot
birds as a hobby.

Thanks Eli.

I've got the 2008 Sharks in the Park next week and the Nevada
Open Road Challenge in Ely on the 18th, so it'll be a busy month.

That depends on how you calculate it. 665 flywheel hp would the usual
number, but it take another 60 hp to turn the supercharger at 6000
rpm, so you could say the engine is producing 725 hp. Realistically
when you calculate top speed or 1/4 mile times, you want to use the
power to the wheels, so 531.6 is the important number.

I'm running a Vortech V1 T-Trim supercharger at 14.7 psi at
6000 rpm. I blew the stock motor last year at the Bonneville
100. This motor is a "hybrid" 928S4 motor, 87 bottom end,
with oil squirter block, custom drilled crank, forged rods, and 951
rings. The heads off my original 90 motor, with a few new valves
and guides. It's got cometic head gaskets and running a little lower
compression then the stock 10:1, 40 lb-hr fuel injectors, Vortech
SFMU, custom air-water intercooler, and custom crank case breather
system. I also had the stock 90 1:2.54 final drive swapped out for
an 88 1:2.20 final drive. This should get me to 200 mph at 5800
rpm.

Here is a video of the last leg of the Bonneville 100 when the #2
rod bearing gave up the ghost at 188 mph (40mb wmv).
